Holo SP-D in innovative football facility on the roof of Ikea store

26/08/2013

Thanks to its hollow shape, Holo will enable a weight saving up to 35%.

SO.F.TER. and Terra Sports Technology will supply the TPE granule HOLO SP-D for the infill of two new artificial pitches that will be laid on the roof of the IKEA store in Utrecht (NL).

This innovative solution, the only one of its kind, has made it possible to reconcile sports and business to the benefit of the community. The Swedish multinational company needed to expand its Utrecht store, but the only existing space was occupied by a nearby football facility belonging to the Faja Lobi/KDS Football Club. The agreement which has finally been achieved is as simple as extraordinary: IKEA will widen its store by building, among other things, a large covered parking and the sports facility will be entirely rebuilt... on the roof of the parking! In this way, both the Ikea store and the football club will have a larger area and will offer their customers more services and comfort.

The two new artificial pitches, whose inauguration is scheduled for August 2013, will be infilled with HOLO SP-D granule which, due to its hollow shape, will enable to save up to 35% on the total infill weight! In addition to the lightness, HOLO SP-D provides an excellent drainage of rainwater and offers players a great shock absorption, grip and sliding performance. It complies with the requirements of the Dutch Soil Quality Decree and has been approved for installation in FIFA 2 STARS artificial systems.

In 2012 other two artificial pitches infilled with HOLO have been built, thanks to the efforts of the Municipality who is pursuing a strict environmental policy. Even the prestigious stadium PEC Zwolle in which plays the Dutch premier league, used the HOLO® granule for his new artificial system inaugurated in 2012 after extensive renovations.

SO.F.TER. will exhibit at FSB 2013, the International Trade Fair for Sports Facilities which will be held in Cologne (DE) from 22 to 25 October 2013 in Hall 11.2 / Stand R50.
